About Tall Feathers Inc.
Larger than life tall feathers bring a new experience of the sacred symbolism of feathers. Presented in a community art workshops with the invitation for creative sharing healing and celebration of each person’s spirit. Viewers are visually drawn to the large-scale feathers and intuitively sense a moment lifting them out of everyday experience.
Tall Feathers is about recognizing each person’s story and expanding a compassionate community. It is a monumental project at twice human scale and spanning several 100ft. It also has a large goal, to reach many people across Canada. The process making Tall Feathers unites the sacred symbolism of feathers with the personal expressions of ones journey. By appreciating the significance of this wisdom we can learn to find strength in our relationships to self, each other and earth in a new community art form.
Tall Feathers brings together people of all walks of life to share in a celebration of creativity. It’s an opportunity to honor in the wisdom of the Elders in a meaningful way for each person. When we can reflect the value of this wisdom in the heart of our own story we are engaging reconciliation in community.

Our vision is to see many feathers raises by groups across the city. Culminating in a collective event September 30, Truth and Reconciliation day. The origins and development of Tall Feathers is described in the supporting materials. Through sharing and participation we contribute to creating a new public memory.
